HC-One care homes Celebrate Together in local communities across the UK for Care Home Open Week 2023HC-One care homes across the UK were delighted to open their doors once again to their local communities to celebrate Care Home Open Week, which took place from 26th June to 2nd July 2023.

Celebration parties took place across HC-One’s 269 care homes over the course of the week with Residents, Colleagues, Relatives, the local community, Commissioners, and over 60 MP, MSP and MS visits plus a wide range of other local VIP guests.

Care Home Open Week is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care, designed to connect care homes with their local communities. Residents and Colleagues in HC-One’s care homes enjoyed opening their doors again to celebrate the week together with friends, family and people from the local areas they serve.

The theme for this year’s HC-One Care Home Open Week celebration was ‘Celebrating Together’ where throughout the week a variety of fun-filled activities took place in homes ranging from community carnivals, parades and marketplaces, arts and crafts, competitions, raising money for local charities, music and entertainment, a selection of refreshments on offer and a variety of other activities.

Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England, visited Pytchley Court in Brixworth along with Chris Heaton-Harris, MP for Daventry and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.

Chandlers Ford home in Eastleigh received a visit from Steve Brine, MP for Winchester and Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee, along with a very special guest in the form of TV presenter Anneka Rice.

Angela Rayner, MP for Ashton-under-Lyne and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party visited her local HC-One home, Daisy Nook, while in Wales Gerald Jones, MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney and Shadow Minister (Wales) visited The Daffodils. Balcarres Care Home in Dundee welcomed Shona Robison MSP for Dundee City East and Deputy First Minister of Scotland.

As well as being an opportunity to show people a taste of life in their local care home, the week was a chance for homes to remind their neighbours that they are there if they need support.

James Tugendhat, HC-One’s Chief Executive Officer, said,

“We were delighted to be able to bring everyone together to celebrate Care Home Open Week 2023 again this year.

“Care Home Open Week has provided a great opportunity to enhance the connection between our Residents and homes with their local community and encourage greater community engagement; for our homes to showcase their facilities, activities and services they have to offer as well as to help people to understand more about what a rewarding career in care looks like, which will help support our mission to be the first-choice care provider in each of the communities that we serve.”
