At HC-One, kindness is at the heart of everything we do. The little things, from a heartfelt conversation to a shared moment of joy, make all the difference in creating a warm and welcoming community.
Across
our care homes, we’ve seen firsthand how small acts of kindness can bring people together, foster connections, and brighten someone’s day.
Here are some recent examples of acts of kindness in our care homes which have left a lasting impact on residents, families and our wider communities.
A cup of comfort at Victoria Park
At
Victoria Park care home in Coventry, residents were delighted to welcome Stoke and Wyken police officers for a special ‘Cuppa with a Coppa’ event. Over tea and biscuits, residents and officers engaged in warm conversations, discussing community safety while forming meaningful relationships. The officers also provided updates on local policing efforts, ensuring residents felt safe and informed.
“This was a great opportunity for our home to be involved with our community relationships. This gave us an opportunity to give back to the ones who protect us and ensure our residents feel safe in their home,” said Home Manager Katie Hollis.
A simple cup of tea and a friendly chat not only strengthened community ties but reassured residents that they are heard and supported.
A community cause from Greenacres

Greenacres care home in Meltham, a small but thoughtful act has left a lasting legacy. The home proudly sponsored a bench at Robert Ashton Park, located just next door, providing a tranquil space for residents and visitors to rest and reflect.
Greenacres residents visited the park for the grand unveiling of a commemorative plaque, reading: ‘With love from all at Greenacres care home. In youth we learn, in old age, we understand.’
“This bench is more than just a seat—it represents a connection to our community and the joy of being surrounded by nature,” shared Home Manager Sarah Tomczynski.
This small gesture has not only provided a peaceful retreat but also reinforced Greenacres’ commitment to supporting a deep-rooted sense of community.

Ebor Court care home in York, colleagues and residents' families came together for an inspiring eight-hour stationary bike challenge, raising £300 for Children with Cancer UK. Taking turns to cycle, the participants demonstrated how even small efforts can make a meaningful difference.
