Residents and Colleagues at
Clarendon Hall Care Home in Humberston, Grimsby, were treated to ice cream during a surprise visit from an ice cream van, as a prize for winning HC-One’s national ice cream sundae competition.
To celebrate the summer season in style, HC-One teamed up with Lakeland Dairies to challenge Residents to design their own ice cream sundae. Residents were also tasked with developing an imaginative name for their creation and taking eye catching photos of their scrumptious sundae presentation.
Residents at Clarendon Hall Care Home certainly rose to the challenge, creating a ‘Baileys, caramel, toffee and fudge sundae’. Not only did Residents with a sweet tooth choose the concept, ingredients, and aesthetic design of the winning entry, they also shared their childhood memories of making the ice cream and enjoying ice cream sundaes.
Locals who want to recreate Clarendon Hall Care Home’s winning sundae can do so by combining baileys, caramel, toffee, milac gold cream, condensed milk and fudge then topping off and sprinkling the sundae with chocolate drops, sprinkles and marshmallows before finishing the sundae with toffee sauce, a fudge bar and a waffle cone on top.
Amy Glover, 96, Resident at Clarendon Hall Care Home said:
“It was great fun to let our creativity run wild, as well as to reminisce about our happy memories of making sweet treats with our parents, and later our own children and grandchildren. What a lovely surprise, not only to win but to be treated to celebratory ice creams!”
Victoria Meakin, Group Development Chef at HC-One said:
“Congratulations to Clarendon Hall Care Home for their spectacular Ice Cream Sundae entry.
“We had a tough task to pick a winner from all the fantastic entries from homes across the country, but Clarendon Hall’s sundae really stood out for its creative and culinary flair. The Clarendon Hall family certainly earned their surprise visit from the ice cream van, so we are delighted that they enjoyed their free ice creams!”
Donal Harte, Head of Marketing at Lakeland Dairies commented:
“We were overwhelmed by the fantastic response, and the incredible creativity shown by residents in creating a delicious ice cream sundae with Millac Gold Double. It certainly made judging extremely difficult! We are delighted to continue supporting HC-One and its care settings by devising engaging and fun activities for residents. I would like to thank Lisa Nurse, National Account Manager for her work on this project and to thank everyone who took part, and of course congratulate the winners.”
