Whitley Bay care home welcomes feathered friendResidents and team members at HC-One’s Eastbourne House care home in Whitley Bay were surprised when they discovered a new feathered guest had taken refuge within the home.

Flossy the bird had been missing from her family home in the local community for several days before finding her way into Eastbourne House through a window. Residents and staff quickly took Flossy under their wing, ensuring that she was well looked after during her stay in the home, the team organised a cage for Flossy as well lots of toys and treats to keep her entertained.

Eastbourne House launched a Facebook appeal which finally reunited Flossy with her beloved owner, Debbie. Residents and team members loved taking care of Flossy and will having her in the home but were delighted that they were able to help bring Flossy and her family back together again.

Frankie Forster, a Resident at Eastbourne House was especially taken with Flossy, who brought back fond memories for. Frankie commented: “I love birds, I had birds all my life and so did my parents.”

Debbie White, Home Manager at Eastbourne House said: “It was lovely having Flossy stay with us and seeing the joy she brought to Residents during these difficult times.”
