War time reminiscence at Glenrothes care homeResidents at HC-One’s Woodside Court in Glenrothes welcomed a local man who volunteered to give an informative talk about World War I and World War II.

History fan, Allan, visited Woodside Court to spend some time chatting with Residents about both World Wars, he brought a variety of war time collectables including a Samuel sword, Decommissioned rifles, old tobacco tins, old uniforms, hats, medals and much more.

Residents enjoyed chatting with Allan about both wars and asking him questions about the different items, for some, the session brought back memories of World War II which they shared with the group.

One Resident commented: “It was really interesting to learn more about the wars and see all of the medals and get to wear the military hats and helmets.”

Woodside Court Home Manager, Nicola Procter said: “Thank you to Allan for volunteering to visit our home to share his knowledge on the wars, it was great to see our Residents engaging and sharing stories.”
