Residents enjoy 4th July celebrations at Gateshead care homeHC-One’s Springfield House care home in Gateshead recently held their annual American Independence Day celebrations in the home which the Residents thoroughly enjoyed.

Colleagues set up a wide rang of activities for Residents to take part in such Hook a Duck, Beer Pong, Hoopla and the classic Tin Can Alley stall. All of the Springfield House Residents had a go of the activities and were even competing with the staff at times.

Resident Jayne said: “Hook A Duck is so much harder than it looks, but I still won a prize!”

The activities were all set up in the homes reception and Colleagues brought Residents down from each floor, one at a time, in order to follow social distancing rules.

To complete the day, Residents feasted on an American menu with lots of classic dishes. On offer was, Southern Fried chicken strips, hot dogs, apple pies and homemade pizza. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the day and loved enjoying their American meals after taking part in the activities.

Springfield House Home Manager, Kay Rudd said: “It’s nice to do something a little different, and today we brought a little tiny bit of the USA to Low Fell.”
