Reminiscence room brings back happy memories at Glasgow care home Kellyanne Mullan, a Nursing Assistant at HC-One’s Ailsa Craig care home in Glasgow has transformed a spare room into a reminiscence room designed to provide a comfortable, relaxing environment for those living with dementia.

The new reminiscence room has laundry and nursery features, which are used by Residents living with dementia to complete familiar tasks which include, listening to music, folding laundry, dressing a therapy doll or pushing the doll in a pram.

Since the reminiscence room has been introduced at Ailsa Craig, it has become a solace for both ladies and gentlemen living in the home, members of the team are delighted with the positive impact the reminiscence room is having on the wellbeing of Residents. 

One Resident commented: “I enjoy spending time in the reminiscence room, it is a peaceful space that brings back cherished memories.”

Lynsey Armstrong, Home Manager at Ailsa Craig said: “Thank you to Kellyanne for creating such an inviting space for Residents to reminisce and relax, the feedback from Residents and their loved ones on the room has been wonderful.”
