Redcar care home Residents childhood wish comes trueA Resident at HC-One’s St Peter’s Court in Redcar always had a childhood wish of having her hair dyed, so the homes trained hairdresser made this wish, a reality.

Ethel, who is a Resident at St Peter’s Court expressed to Alla, the homes wellbeing coordinator, how she had always wanted, since she was a little girl, to have her hair dyed.

Alla, as a trained hairdresser, explained to Ethel that she would be able to do this for her and was completely took by surprise when Ethel asked to have it dyed blue. Alla sat Ethel down and spoke in depth about what that would mean and what her exact wishes were. After Ethel explained to Alla that she has always wished to have her hair dyed, Alla got all her tools together and organised a day for it to be done.

A few days later, Ethel attended the hairdressing salon in the home and the new hair colour process began. Alla pampered Ethel, washing her hair and giving Ethel a very nice head massage. Then Alla started to dye Ethel's hair. Ethel was ecstatic and very excited “ I cannot wait to see the finished result,” she said.

Ethel was given a cup of tea and chatted to the staff in the home as her hair was being dyed. After it was all done, Ethel looked in the mirror and her eyes lit up, she was absolutely over the moon with her blue hair. Ethel was full of joy, laughing and stated that she felt like royalty and had had the most amazing day, been pampered and finally realising her wish of having blue hair.

“I enjoyed the full experience, everyone made me feel like a royal Queen for the day and best of all made a long time wish come true,” said Ethel.

Joleen Rayner, St Peters Court Home Manager said: “What a pleasure it is to grant a wish and see a spark in Ethel's eyes for her wish had come true.”
