Penrith care home Residents celebrate 75th anniversary of VE DayResidents at HC-One’s Cold Springs Park care home in Penrith celebrated VE Day this Early May Bank Holiday with scones and teacakes and a sing-a-long.

Residents started the day with watching old footage of past VE Day parades, street parties and the nation in full swing. Many of the Cold Springs Park Residents spoke of their personal memories which gave others fascinating insight.

They all then sang and danced to Vera Lynn and two Residents even did a solo and a proud Resident showed off his wartime medal he received for heroic work.

Jackie Johnstone, Cold Springs Park Home Manager said: “The many happy faces told a story, what a lovely day.”

At 11am Cold Springs Park fell silent as everyone honoured the minute silence for our brave and fallen soldiers.

The catering staff then provided a selection of delicious cakes, scones, snacks and drinks on beautifully decorated trolleys which all the Residents admired.

One Cold Springs Park Resident said: “It was a great effort from everyone which made a successful day all round.”

Photographs were taken and sent to Residents families to share their memories of a special day.
