Ilkeston care home Resident celebrates 100th birthdayKen, a Resident at HC One’s Victoria Park care home, celebrated his big 100th birthday today.

Colleagues at the Ilkeston care home knew they would have to make a special effort for Ken, he loves a good celebration, so it would have to be extra special for the big 100!

Of course with everybody being under lockdown this was more challenging than usual, however the home ensured he had as perfect a day as possible.

Ken was overwhelmed by the ‘turn out’, as friends and family sent birthday wishes in the form of cards, presents and phone calls on his special day.

Ken even received an acknowledgment from a member of the Royal British Legion, who was even a part of the Navy during the War.

There was even a sing a long from the local police which Ken could hear from the garden of the home. It was lovely that the local community wanted to wish him a happy birthday and get involved too.

One of the Colleagues at the home said “this has been a wonderful turn out for Ken’s big 100th birthday! We’ve got some work to do if he expects one this good next year”.
