Fundraising success as Ilkeston care home wears it pink for Breast Cancer ResearchHC-One’s Victoria Park care home in Ilkeston dressed from head to toe in pink as the team raised a fantastic £300 for Breast Cancer Research.

The team was committed to raising awareness and support the charity on the annual Wear it Pink day, as many Colleagues’ lives have been affected by cancer in some way.

Staff, Residents and Relatives at Victoria Park joined in with the fundraiser by dressing in pink clothing and accessories for the day, while Colleague Rachel Collyer was even bravely sponsored to have her hair dyed pink.

The home also held a raffle to further contribute to the fundraising, with the total amount raised exceeding £300.

Julie Lister, Home Manager at Victoria Park, has continued to create awareness of the illness amongst her fellow team members by arranging for a breast cancer nurse to visit the home to give advice on how to properly check their breasts and look out for early symptoms.

Julie said: “I am so proud of our team for raising such a fantastic amount of money for Breast Cancer Research, while creating awareness of the symptoms to look out for.

“Breast Cancer Research is a charity that is close to the hearts of many working and living at Victoria Park, so it was fantastic to support the great work it does in such a positive way.”
