Falkirk care home Residents keep fit with cheerleading exercisesResidents at HC-One’s Kinnaird Manor care home in Falkirk have been keeping fit by getting hold of some pompoms and taking part in some cheerleading activities.

Colleagues at Kinnaird Manor decided to invest in some cheerleading pompoms to try and make the homes exercises a little more interesting and much more fun than their normal exercises routines.

Everyone tried their best to keep up with the ‘hokey-cokey’ and YMCA and there was a whole lot of pompom shaking going on. Elderly Residents who exercise tend to have improved immune and digestive functioning, better blood pressure and bone density, and a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and other diseases. So, it is very important to keep exercising fun and different.

Kinnaird Manor Resident, Sheila said: “I could go for a wee nap now after that.”

Residents also enjoyed watching the staff trying to keep fit and enjoyed laughing and dancing along with them.

Kinnaird Manor Care Assistant, Lisa said: “It’s so nice to see our lovely Residents engage and having so much fun with the pompoms and exercising.”
