Helen Blundell, Home Manager at HC-One’s Ashgrove care home in Dudley commemorated Armistice Day with her father, World War II Burma Star Veteran, Kenneth Hind on Sunday 11th November.
This year, Helen was able to attend the Remembrance Service at her family’s local church in Llandudno, where she watched her father place a poppy wreath on the church altar wearing his medals.
Kenneth joined the Royal Corp of Signals at 17-years-old and was sent to Burma for four years. Helen wore her grandfather’s medals which he was awarded after returning from service in World War I.
Residents and staff from Ashgrove also paid their respects to the war heroes and celebrated 100 years since the end of World War I with a commemorative service at the home.
