Dementia awareness at Hamilton care homeThe team at HC-One’s Douglas View care home in Hamilton have been increasing their knowledge of dementia and how it affects people’s lives with the help of CAPA.

In February, CAPA hosted training for members of the team at Douglas View so that the team can increase their awareness of how living with dementia can impact people’s lives. The training was very insightful and the team agreed that it was beneficial to refresh their knowledge and share their ideas with each other.

At the end of the training, the home’s very own Avon Choir performed for the team, this was an extra special moment as the choir members all are living with dementia and enjoyed singing a variety songs including ‘You Are My Sunshine’, Country Road’ and ’10 Guitars’.

Lyndsey Barnes, Douglas View Home Manager said: “It’s important that everyone at Douglas View is aware of how dementia can people’s lives, hosting training days like that ensure that we continue to provide the kindest possible care and support for our Residents.”
