Childhood sweethearts celebrate diamond wedding anniversary at Bradford care homeCelebrations were in full swing at HC-One’s Knowles Court care home in Bradford, as childhood sweethearts Alma and Bob Hunter marked 60 years of marriage together.

Alma and Bob first met at a church youth dance, aged 17 and 18 years old respectively, instantly making a positive impression on each other. While engineer Bob thought window dresser Alma was very smartly dressed and fashionable, Bob’s good looks caught Alma’s eye, although she claims that he was hopeless at dancing.

The couple hit it off after Bob took Alma to the new Vic cinema on their first date, and later married and had a son and a daughter together.

To celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary, Alma and Bob were thrown a surprise party at Knowles Court, where Alma has lived since February 2017.

The happy couple were delighted to celebrate with fellow Residents at the care home, especially as they were presented with an amazing cake made by Colleague Ann Sargent, which was made to look like the cake they had at their wedding.

Bob and Alma claimed that their secret to a long and happy marriage is to compromise with each other and to never go to bed on an argument.

Louisa Hermann, Home Manager at Knowles Court, said: “It was wonderful to see Bob and Alma so happy together celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary at Knowles Court. They are a lovely couple and still so very much in love.

“Helping Residents make special memories like these is an important part of how HC-One helps provide the kindest care.”
